The Marlin 39 TDS is 4' shorter (16' barrel) than the Mountie and 8' shorter than the 39A. Same great 22 lever action in a pint sized package. Marlin 39 A Probably my favorite 22 rimfire rifle and quite possibly my favorite rifle period. It's my very best a small game hunter and varmit/vermin controler. This is one handy little takedown lever action with each half of the rifle measuring less than 17' for handy carry. The walnut stocks are checkered with rubber pad. The model 39 (Not 39A/39M) was made from 1922-1938. With a 4 digit ser # your going to be on the low end of those dates Since you rifle does not have the HS prefix on the serial number it means it will not take the high speed.22 long rifle cartridges. Excellent condition Marlin Model 39 TDS for sale. I think it has the JM stamp Mid 90's at the original Marlin Plant in North Haven, Connecticut. The TDS is a very rare model with a 16' barrel, short forearm, and straight stock. The gun has one little dent in the stock. Model 39 was chambered for.22 rimfire, had 24' octagonal barrel and take-down receiver. Has full-length magazine tube which holds 25 Shorts, 20 Longs or 18 LR cartridges. Most Model 39s had a spring-loaded button outer magazine tube release.
